Shanty-lympics

It is time to pull out your track suit and stretch out your hamstings.  It is time for the Shanty-lympics!!!

For 3 weeks brave scrapbookers from all over the world can meet on one message board to show off their design talents for the thrill of a great layout…. and the agony of papercuts.

The Shanty-lympics will begin on August 8th and the winners will be posted on August 31st.  Scrapbookers will compete in 3 weekly challenges and win points from voters.  At the end the 3 winners will be awarded Gold, Silver and Bronze prizes.

You must have active participation on our message board in order to participate (only member having at least 25 posts before August 8th will be allowed to play).  We welcome people from all over the globe to come and play in the Shanty-lympics.

Ultimate Recipe Showdown news

Whoops, been awhile since I updated on our contest!

Weeks 2 and 3 brought us some fabulous and creative LOs; voting is torture!

We are now in our final week of competition and have singled out our 3 finalists.  The week 4 recipe has been posted and, if i do say so myself, it’s a doozy!  I have complete faith that our finalists will come up with amazing taste treats for our eyes to feast on….and voting will again be a major task!

Please come check out the contest on the boards and don’t forget to vote for our winner!  The Ultimate Recipe Showdown gallery is already chock-full of goodness and by Saturday, the final 3 entries will be posted.

Do You See What I See?

OKay everyone….lets get those cameras out of their bags and out taking some great photos!!! Remember cameras don’t like to collect dust…and anything we exercise gets stronger so how about we all stretch our photographer muscles and take some awesome photos!!!

This week we will be working on FILL THAT FRAME.
One of the simplest ways to get a striking picture is to really get in there and get up close and personal. I don’t necessarily mean using your macro and getting an extreme closeup (although you can of course). What I want you to do is take some steps forward and/or use your zoom and make sure whatever it is you are taking a picture of FILLS UP the whole photo! You can also do this later on when you crop your digital photos if you want to. One good thing about using this technique is that if you are taking pictures in your house and your house is like mine and not always in pristine condition it doesn’t matter cuz all that distracting clutter won’t be in the photo!

Come play along with us and show us how filling up the frame improves your photos! Picture of the Week Challenge

Scrapable Snaps 7/16

ok ladies…this week…lets see the ‘fruits of your labor’……..
this could be your garden, a household project–ya know something that you had to work at to enjoy :)
be sure and scrap it for future viewing pleasure! ;) Sometimes we forget to scrap these things even if we take pics!

cant wait to see what ppl come up with!

my photo is of our first raspberry of the season.  Something tried to kill our canes this year and after mucho babying we managed to save some of them…and even have a few raspberries…this truly depicts the ‘fruits of my labor’!!  LOL

Ultimate Recipe Showdown updates

What a fabulously talented group of scrappers we have here at the Shanty!!  I know I had a devil of a time choosing my vote for the first week’s recipe!

We had a total of 14 participants (and I am sooo stoked to see so many members taking the plunge!) and that group has now been whittled down to 10.

The week 2:  appetizer recipe is now posted and I can’t wait to see the 10 different takes on it!  Just for fun, try out a recipe yourself and leave a comment here with a link to your LO.  Or better yet, come join our little family and post in our gallery :)

July’s 1st Sketch Challenge

Say welcome to the 4th of July with a great sketch by Anne (StormRose).  It was pointed out how this sketch kind of looks like a flag so it would be great for those 4th of July pictures that you took over the weekend.

Use this sketch anyway you want to inspire you to do a layout or card and then post it in the gallery and link it back to this thread so we can all give it the praise it deserves!!
